Yes. The CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn, said that there will be (at least) 2.5 billion more vehicles on the road. Most will be gasoline powered. Can you say-CO2, methane, etc.?
Barcelona, Carlos Ghosn:
“Today there are about 800-(600?) million vehicles on the roads. By 2050, that number is expected to more than triple to as many as 2.5 billion. That number of fossil fuel-burning engines on the road is not sustainable if we want to mitigate the impact of climate change.” March 11, 2015.
Ghosn even admitted above that the CO2 levels would go up from all those CO2 automobiles that are planned. The fact is that CO2 is going strong on planet earth. Can you say climate change?
One more bad news for the future from the executive of the Convention on Biological Diversity. Ahmad Djoghlaf recently observed “Climate Change has become one of the greatest drivers of biodiversity loss.”
Indeed, the latest assessment by the-UN Integovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded that 20 to 30 percent of species would likely face an increased risk of extinction if globally averaged temperatures rise 1.5-2.5 Centigrade above 1980-1999 levels, and that 40 to 70 percent of species could be rendered extinct should temperature increases exceed 3.5 Centigrade, a temperature scenario that is becoming increasingly possible by the end of this century.
A large portion of the species that are imperiled inhabit the world’s oceans, including fish, marine animals, coral reefs, ecosystems, and plankton.
More Bad News for planet earth. Temperatures overall are climbing. Perhaps it may be because the CO2 levels are going up and will continue to do so because the future will bring 2.5 billion more people with it by 2050. The climate will become hotter and polluted with more CO2, etc. from billions of more vehicles, bringing joy to the CEOs of car dealers and a climbing rate of pollution globally. The end of planet earth remains steadfast on target toward the predicted disaster of the increase of 2.5 billion more people on the planet, bringing shortages of everything. Perhaps bringing with it the promised end.
Coal plants in China and other places around the world are busy constructing power plants and the climate change keeps adding more pollution while governments defer to CEOs around the world.
While the earth continues to pollute the atmosphere and the oceans, the “International report confirms: 2014 was Earth’s warmest year on record.
In 2014, the most essential indicators of Earth’s changing climate continued to reflect trends of a warming planet, with several markers such as rising land and ocean temperature, sea levels and greenhouse gases- setting new records. (State of the Climate in 2014 report).
Major climate changes:
Greenhouse gases continued to climb: Major greenhouse gas concentrations, including carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, continued to rise during 2014, once again reaching historic high values. Atmospheric concentrations increased by 1.9 ppm in 2014, reaching a global average of 397.2 ppm for the year.
Sea surface temperatures were record high: The globally averaged sea surface temperature was the highest on record. The warmth was particularly notable in the North Pacific Ocean, …”
Read this report, which should show you a little something about how badly our situation is moving on toward the ending of this scenario.
Now consider studies have discovered that “Greenhouse gases caused glacial retreat during last Ice Age.”
“…melting glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age has conclusively shown that the glacial retreat was due to rising levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, as opposed to other types of forces.” And greenhouse gases will be a large cause of the end of whatever disasters humans are doing at the time.
